On October 24, 2026, Cooke China hosted the third Student Graduation Short Film Screening and Awards Ceremony at the China Society of Cinematographers Exchange Center in Beijing.
This year’s event showcased 17 student graduation films from institutions including the Beijing Film Academy, Communication University of China, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Communication University of Zhejiang, China Film Archive, London Film School, and the University of the Arts London. Through diverse themes and visual styles, the films reflected young filmmakers’ explorations of reality, storytelling, and visual expression, highlighting the passion and creative potential of a new generation of filmmakers.
Four cinematographers—Bingqiang Li (CNSC), Lucy Tung (CNSC), Xinzhong Zhao, and Saba Mazloum—were invited to serve as jury members. Bingqiang Li and Lucy Tung attended the event in person and engaged with the young filmmakers. The jury shared professional insights into cinematography, visual storytelling, and industry practices, and presented awards to outstanding works.
Beyond the screenings and awards, the conversations continued. Following the event, the participating student crews and jury members gathered for dinner, sharing creative experiences and exchanging ideas about filmmaking and visual storytelling in a relaxed atmosphere.
