Over the course of two days, we captured interviews and portraits of the 2024 USA Olympic team wearing the Ralph Lauren opening ceremony uniforms. We listened to their thoughts ahead of the 2024 Games in Paris.
Ralph Lauren is a brand renowned for luxury and timelessness, so the director (Matt Dodimead) and I felt these films centring the athletes should echo those characteristics whilst feeling authentic. Therefore pairing the Cooke’s and Alexa35 felt like a natural choice.
My first choice was the Cooke Speed Panchros, they are a beautiful set of lenses and have consistently helped me achieve a premium, vintage look on past projects. After consulting with Greenwood Cine rental house in Brooklyn, I was advised “We have a set of brand new Panchro/i Classics and they would be a great fit if you’re looking for that Speed Panchro look.”
The lenses proved to be an excellent pairing with the Alexa35. The consistency and characteristics across the focal lengths proved invaluable for the shoot. They delivered the classic, vintage “Cooke Look” while providing the high clarity and polished finish that these films required.
