DOP’s Perspective:
For this film I chose the Cooke SP3’s because I wanted something that would really suit the mood of the story, which is about nostalgia and reflection.
Considering the size of the crew, which was minimal, I also needed a setup that would be easy to handle and compact, which made a big difference on this shoot.
The softer contrast which makes it look more organic, the way highlights roll off, the subtle focus fall off, and the natural skin texture unlike the harsh digital look, all served the narrative very well. I’m grateful to Cooke for making it available for the film.
