A song of longing and defiance, “Ranjha” is her voice against a world that won’t let her choose.

DOP’s Perspective:

When it came to choosing the right lens for Ranjha, Noor Chahal’s latest music video, I knew I wanted something that could elevate the visual language something that felt both cinematic and emotionally intimate. That’s what led me to the Cooke S5/i.

I had recently started experimenting with this lens, and from the very first frame, I was captivated. The texture, the warmth, the way it renders skin with such natural softness, it all felt incredibly organic and true to the emotion we were trying to capture.

The 25mm and 32mm in particular have become personal favorites. There’s a distinct character to them, a subtle magic that aligns beautifully with my visual style. They don’t just record an image; they interpret it, adding depth and nuance that’s hard to replicate.

Pairing the Cooke S5/i with the Alexa 35 was a deliberate choice. We weren’t just aiming for a polished look, we wanted the visuals to breathe, to feel alive, to carry the emotional weight of the song. This combination gave us exactly that. The results were stunning, rich, cinematic frames that felt both timeless and Perfect.

In the end, Ranjha became more than just a music video. It was a visual poem — and the lens played a pivotal role in shaping its soul.
