For the music video project “KALYANI,” we shot on the RED V-RAPTOR paired with Cooke S7/i lenses. I wanted a camera and lens combination that could keep up with the pace and energy of the song while still allowing the visuals to retain a strong sense of depth, texture and character.

The Cooke S7/i lenses gave us a nice balance between sharpness and softness, creating detailed images without making them feel overly clean or digital. Their rendering helped bring a natural depth and cinematic quality to the visuals, which suited the mood and visual language of the music video.

What worked particularly well for the project was the consistency of the lenses across different locations, lighting setups and performances. Despite the changing environments and energy of each setup, the lenses maintained their character and helped create a cohesive look throughout the video.

Combined with the RED V-RAPTOR, the Cooke S7/i lenses gave us the flexibility to work at the pace required for a music video while maintaining a rich, textured and cinematic image.
