A compact, lightweight set of six T2.0 primes from 18mm to 100mm, with class-leading close focus and a carefully regulated character that complements skin tones, delivers gentle clarity and expressive lens flares.

This workhorse lens set is designed to suit the demands of modern filmmaking, S4 FF/i is as dependable as it is exciting.

Exceptional close focus

S4 FF/i offers class-leading close focus across the set, averaging just over fifteen inches (385mm). Hands and small details can fill the frame, and performance holds from infinity to the minimum object distance. At T2.0 on full frame, the depth of field is shallow and expressive.

Expressive flares

S4 FF/i flares are layered and complex, enveloping the frame without overpowering it. They’re true to the light in front of the lens: veiling flare takes on the colour of the source and tints the image. Contrast softens without the picture dissolving into haze. Each focal length flares a little differently, and equally beautifully. Same family, different personalities. Feel the light.

Pleasing warmth

S4 FF/i inherits the S4/i S35’s natural skin tones, with a gentleness to faces akin to a very light filtration. Detail resolves with a gentle clarity rather than a brittle or clinical edge. The result is a refined, human image, and portraits that are easy on the eye.

Colour with Character

On S4 FF/i, highlights gleam and envelop, sparkling with a very slight glow and bloom. Colour sings, elevated yet true to life, and holds together in even the most saturated environments, with a slight warmth running through the image. It’s tuned to enhance what’s in front of the lens but never to overwrite it.

Dimensionality

Falloff in contrast is very gentle and true to human vision. The image is still dimensional, with depth that feels natural rather than dramatic. Sharpness holds edge to edge, with barely any loss of detail towards the corners. The edges of the frame are as dependable as the centre, setting these lenses apart from vintage glass and making them extremely well suited to narrative work.

Beautiful Bokeh

Bokeh is smooth and extremely circular wide open with gently defined edges that never distract. Towards the edges of the frame, it takes on a cat’s eye shape, and that change is consistent across the focal length range. A nine-blade iris with curved blades, in place of the S4/i S35’s eight straight blades, keeps bokeh rounder as you stop down.

Modern, but never clinical. S4 FF/i is the everyday set: dependable, compact and full frame, balancing modern resolution with dimensionality across a focused range of focal lengths. Designed around proximity and practicality, it’s precision without bulk and intimacy without compromise, with contrast and sharpness that stay consistent across the set.

S4 FF/i lenses contain Cooke’s latest /i Technology. Data is relayed through the lens mount and a cable connector. Realtime readout includes focus and iris position and motion inertial data.

Each lens has a unique factory calibrated shading and distortion map which is also transmitted.

/i Technology offers incredible benefits for VFX heavy productions along with virtual production compatibility and benefits.

All lenses feature Cooke’s advanced /i technology, providing comprehensive metadata for seamless integration with modern production workflows.

The S4 FF/i prime lenses feature a nine-leaf linear module iris assembly with slightly rounded blades.

Precision PL or LPL mount with /i Technology electrical contacts.

Ergonomically designed to have smooth and accurate travel – whilst utilising precision mechanics to provide a consistent feel in operation through the entire focus movement.

Lenses can be supplied with either imperial or metric scales marked from infinity to MOD.

All S4FF/i primes offer aperture range of T2 – T16.

Compact, lightweight and suitable for all shooting applications. Lenses weigh between 1450g – 1800g.

Full-Frame, optimised to cover the latest full-frame cameras including Red V-Raptor VV, Sony Venice and Arri Alexa LF.

Handcrafted perfection

S4 FF/i are proudly handmade at the Cooke factory in Leicester, UK.

Modern and traditional grinding and polishing techniques are combined to achieve the highest level of precision. Sophisticated thin film equipment and traditional cementing processes are utilised to ensure optimum coatings. Finally, lenses are meticulously assembled, exhaustively tested, checked and re-checked.

S4 FF/i lenses are built to be tough, robust and work in the most demanding environments. They are extremely reliable and designed to be easily serviced and maintained for the very minimum of downtime.
