What really drew me to the Panchro lenses was their unique warmth and the extraordinary softness at the center of the glass. That, combined with the gentle fall-off and their distinct vintage character, gave me a way to emphasize the emotional texture of the story while still embracing the raw beauty and tough conditions of the Saudi landscape.
This film is a reflection on presence and memory — it follows three generations of women from the same family as they travel across the country. It’s an emotionally rich journey, and visually, I wanted to support that with images that felt both intimate and timeless.
The Alexa 35 was an ideal partner for the Cookes. That combination gave us a beautifully cinematic look across all environments, and crucially, a lot of flexibility in any conditions— especially in the many low-light situations we faced throughout the shoot.
