So majorly i have used Cooke anamorphic FF+ s5i & are the ones that always stand out. (I’ve also used the S7/i and S4/i, but these two remain my favorites for the kind of visual feel I look for.)
Anamorphic + Venice 2:
The combination feels textured, immersive, and slightly romanticized, perfect for storytelling that benefits from a heightened sense of reality.
Spherical + Alexa 35
On the other hand, this pairing is crisp, warm, and precise. It has a modern sharpness that doesn’t stray into sterility.
Choosing between the two isn’t about “better” or “worse” — it’s about the emotional and visual language you want to convey. The anamorphic Venice 2 combo sings for epic narratives and visually rich worlds, while the spherical Alexa 35 pairing feels right for controlled, sharp storytelling where warmth and detail must coexist
