“This hour-long documentary weaves back and forth between the careers of Babe Ruth, the major sports figure of his day, and Sing Sing Warden Lewis E. Lawes, "America's Warden." The two figures meet in person when Lawes invites Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees to play an exhibition game against the Sing Sing inmates on September 5, 1929.”

DOP  Geoffrey William Duncanson on his camera and lens choices
“Every single shot in the historical reenactment scenes in this documentary was shot with the Cooke 50mm miniS4/i wide open with a Schneider-Kreuznach  Classic Soft 1/8 in the matte box. In the this baseball game scene, a Revar Cine RotaPola was implemented as well to get the sky to appear deep blue. I choose this lens, to shoot it open, and to further diffuse it in order achieve a uniform look that fell somewhere between modern and classic film noir. I paired it with a Sony camera for its electronic variable ND filter allowing fine exposure control with the constant aperture. The director was pleased with the resulting look and feel as it matched his vision and the talent was pleased with how good they looked. ”
