“’Young Once’ was shot entirely on the 65mm Macro Anamorphic SF and I loved the versatility of the lens. Since we planned to shoot handheld, I was initially nervous about the weight of the lens but in practice the added mass helped smooth out my shots. The focus range of the lens allowed us to move from wide to extreme close up without the need for diopters. When developing the look with director Tim Mattia, we needed the camera to blend as a character and create a heightened naturalism. The even anamorphic compression allowed free handheld movement without un-natural warping while the flare attributes added the right amount of visual interest without being distracting. Even wide open the lens was sharp and allowed us to get a wonderfully shallow depth of field, to the chagrin of our camera assistant. ”
